Cañada de la Virgen

Description

Located about 25 kilometers southwest of San Miguel de Allende, Cañada de la Virgen is an ancient Otomí-Hñähñu ceremonial center that served as a massive "clock of stone." Unlike many other Mexican ruins, this site was built primarily as an astronomical observatory to track the movement of the sun, moon, and planets.
